January 22, 20179 yr I recently watched a Japanese tech TV programme which included an item about VR and they looked at the new FOVE headset - see: https://www.getfove.com/. It has slightly better screen resolution than the Rift and Vive but its biggest advantage is that, as well as head tracking, it also uses eye tracking via a series of tiny cameras around the eye pieces. The main advantage of this is that the image only needs to be drawn in high resolution where you're actually looking (the foveal area) and not across the whole screen, resulting in better performance. You can also select menu options by just looking at them and pressing a key (switch selection, maybe?). In first-person-shooters, you can target something by just looking at it rather than using a mouse. Sounds like an interesting improvement over the current headsets. i7-14700k | Asus ROG STRIX Z790-F Gaming WIFI | 32GB DDR5 RAM | MSI RTX 4080 Super | WD Black SN850X 1TB & 2TB | Corsair HX1000i ATX3.0 | MSI MAG401QR 40" monitor | Win 11 Pro 64-bit | Meta Quest 3
