What mesh to use?

Featured Replies

Hi,I see here at Avsim there is quite a bit of mesh available. I am attempting to obtain the best mesh I can for North America. I know there's a lot of info out there, but I wanted to put it all in one place for NA for FS9.For the US lower 48, I am using the freeware FSG mesh. I see there is quite a bit of other 38m mesh out there for the US, which leads to my first question:1. Is there any reason to use any other 38m mesh other than the FSG freeware 38m mesh for the lower 48?For Canada and Alaska, I am about to load:Holger Sandmann's LOD7 BCmesh7x , LOD9 BCMesh9x, LOD9 BCMeshpx, CRvrGorge, LOD9 and LOD10 Glacier Bay (2 files), SEBCLOD9, Gilles Gauthier's LOD8 Nanavut (4 files), LOD9 Quebec (4 files), and 2K2 LOD9 Maritime (2 files + update)Dwayne Metheson's LOD8 Alberta (2 files), LOD9 Alberta (5 files),and LOD8 Saskatchewan (2 files)Eddie Deney's 2K2 LOD9 Alaska (16 files)Flight Ontario's 2K2 LOD 11 Prince Edward Island (4 files) Gary Snow 2K2 LOD8 CdnRockiesWhich leads to the rest of my questions:2. Is there an issue with using 2K2 mesh in 2K4? Should I?3. Are there any bad interactions between any of the above scenery packages?4. Are there any I am missing?5. I am mixing LOD 10, LOD 9, LOD 8, and LOD 7 meshes. Is there any issue with this? I understand it is a good thing to have lower resolution meshes as FS will use these in the distance. Am I wrong? Thanks,Thomas

I installed FS Genesis 38 Mesh for all of the US and Canada. You may want to check their web site and see what is available. http://portal.fsgenesis.net/

Unfortunately, money is not an option at the moment. I would love to spend $150 on a galaxy membership, but, I can't. So I am trying to make do with what is available for freeware until it is. Plus, I think others could use this information.Correction - Eddie Deney's Alaska mesh is LOD10 (38m)
