March 14, 20179 yr does anyone know which lights this activates on the real aircraft? I see its not functional on the sim unfortunately despite the switch being animated but wondering why it couldnt be ? Im assuming there must be some lighting limitation that means that decision was made? Also ive noticed that even when the flight deck is completely cold without any form of power on, the storm and dome light still function. Is this accurate to real world and how would the flight deck access switch / function tie in with that? tks nick caldwell

March 14, 20179 yr I found this: http://www.meriweather.com/flightdeck/747/aft/gndtest-light.html# I am unsure about the real world operation of the dome/storm lights. <---------------> Mike Murawski

March 14, 20179 yr Author thanks Mike interesting site ive not visited in some time, yes that explains the switch function and why we dont see anything happen in the sim because it doesnt affect the flightdeck its self thanks nick caldwell
March 15, 20179 yr Quote yes power is connected but not pressed With Ext Pwr AVAIL, power will be available to certain light circuits. There are 3 switches which enable the flight deck access lights (including the one on the overhead panel in the cockpit).. There is also a Ground Service switch at entry door 2L which powers additional lights in the cabin and cockpit (including the cockpit dome lights). The Ground Service Switch appears to be automatically activated in the sim (but are normally operated by the pilots or ground staff). With the Battery off, the Storm Light Switch will have no control over these lights. Cheers JHW John H Watson (retired 744/767 Avionics engineer)
