Which new sim to get started on?

Featured Replies

Hello All,

I am just getting back into flight simming, so I dug out my old boxed FSX/acceleration and reinstalled.  Love the content on AVSIM so far!

Here's my question.  How should I get my sim up to date?                                      automatic clay pigeon thrower

1. Stick with FSX and get 3rd party add ons to make it look fresher

2. Get FSX steam edition

3. Move to x-plane version 11

4. Move to Prepar3d version 3

5. Wait for Prepar3d version 4 or dovetail's new sim?

I appreciate realism in flight models, visuals, and systems.

Thanks

FSX is a dying sim and FSW is a long way from being anything worth considering. Might as well start out with P3Dv4 or XP11.  You can try both risk free. XP11 has a demo and P3D has a 90 day refund policy.

I've owned every version of flight simulator since Flight Simulator 3.0 in 1988.

Windows 11 Pro loaded on a 4TB Gen5 Crucial T700 SSD, 4TB Samsung 990 Pro SSD, Ryzen 9 7950x3d, AS Rock X670e Taichi Motherboard, Gigabyte Gaming RTX 4090 OC 24GB, 64GB (2x32GB) Viper Venom  DDR5-6000MT/s, MSI 32" MAG 321UPX QD-OLED 260hz 4K Gaming Monitor.

You don't have to wait for this, it is already out...
