Megascenery Pacific Northwest

Featured Replies

I was looking for a little feedback on this. I was planning on buying this package at my local computer store and was just wondering if i should hold off until we see what the scenery in FSX looks like. See this sucks now when it comes to payware and not knowing what the new product will bring. I hear the Pacific Northwest is about the best out there as far as add ons go.

It's a dificult choice.I think in terms of scenery "accuracy", PNW will remain the most realistic option. It's photoreal. The problem with it is that the quality of the textures is not very good at low altitudes. Some people can't stand Megascenery because of this, even though it looks vastly superior at some altitude. However, FSX will bring improvements to texture resolution, autogen, those kind of things. So, especially at lower altitudes, it will look better than Megascenery. But I doubt it will be much more accurate than what you can currently achieve in FS9 using addons like Ultimate Terrain, FSG Landclass and Mesh etc ie. not even close to Megascenery accuracy. Finally, there's the possibility that Megascenery will work even better under FSX. If they have rewritten the scenery engine to be more efficent, the dreaded "blurries" and long loading times associated with photoscenery may have been eliminated or at least significantly reduced.FSX is still a long way off. If you get PNW now, there'll be plenty for you to do and discover while waiting for the new sim!

Thanks for the reply, sounds like a smart choice. It is just that the scenery is SOOO beautiful it is hard to resist. I love that region of the country. Might even move there one day!!
