Fs error

Featured Replies

Every time I start up FS8 I get this ERROR: "0.57999999999999999600000000is greater then 0.4799999999999999800000000" (see atach)it comes up twice every time I start up FS. It also sometimes comes up repeatedly while I'm flying. It wasn't there when I first got FS. Now there is no reson for it to pop-up because I allready knowthat 0.57999999999999999600000000is greater then 0.4799999999999999800000000. well I also have many add-ons, maybe that's doing It. I don't know - some Intelligent help would be appreciatedKenrick

IS there realy nobody that can help. the problem still persisists Kenrick

try posting in the hardware forum too. ce

It seems to be an effect file ERROR, as a value on the left in a special entry is greater than the value on the right, and that is forbidden by FS. If this is actually the problem, the only way to solve this is to edit the effect file. The problem is that you have hundreds of fx files in the FS8/effects folder.Try this if you have the time :1 - select the half of your effects files (*.fx) and move them in a safe folder2 - start FS, but be sure that the defaut loaded flight is one of the area where the error occurs3a - if an error message shows, that means the error is in the "active" effects files3b - if not, switch each set of effects files to load the ones you move away instead of the ones you left in the FS8/effects folder, then you should have the error message again once you start FS4 - now, repeat step 1, 2 and 3 while the message occurs, by dividing by 2 the number of effects files in you effects folder. The aim is to move out of the effect folder all "clean" effects files, and keeping the "false" effect containing the false datas loded by FS.5 - this way, and after "hours" of tests, you should end with THE effect file that causes the error, hand edit it, delete or replace it.6 - GOOD LUCK!!That's called in french : DICHOTOMIE. A mathematical method to avoid testing each file one by one...Another suggestion :Try to remember ALL effects you/any addon have installed, edited, replaced since the month the problem occured. That's the what I can do, I don't have any other issue.FSIntegral

FYI, sorting via modified date in an explorer window can help isolate newer files from older files."Let me help you out. You're cleared to taxi any way you can to any runway you see."

Another possibility for sifting through the fx files is searching the fx files for the string "579999999999999996" using Windows "search". I suspect that the value might be used in very few fx files. -John
