Time acceleration?

Having done a few checkout flights now in the 6 I have begun practicing some of the emergency/failure type scenarios. In that endeavor I had one occasion where I used time acceleration just to get to cruise altitude a little quicker (x4 from 5,000 to 12,000 msl) and set up for some simulated equipment failures etc..  I noticed the BMEP and fuel flow values jumped but MP remained the same. So, now curious, I got to cruise alt leveled off, accelerated, decided to let the AFE set power and run the cruise checklist and tried time acceleration again. Same results, I saw a jump in BMEP and fuel flow, but RPM, MP, temps, pressures etc all remained static.  I tried the test with the AFE on, off, throttle lock on and off all with the same results. I tested various acceleration speeds and it appears the jump in BMEP and fuel flow is related to the acceleration rate selected.  Now I don't use time acceleration as a general rule but do occasionally, never over x4 and never for more than about 3-5 minutes.  Has anyone else experienced this behavior? I'm running FSX Acceleration and followed the setup recommendations for FSX in the Introduction pdf included with the 6.

Hi Chris, it is normal in the DC6 to have to adjust BMEP as you climb, but also MP so I'm not sure why one would react to the fast climb and not the other unless it is directly related to how the AFE works.  I don't use the AFE and never had but my recommendation is to keep the rate increase for climbs at or below x4.

I'm reporting this, but it could be a one off item only affecting me. I checked the docs and there wasn't a disclaimer to not use time acceleration.  The behavior happens anytime time acceleration is activated regardless of the phase of flight, throttle position, use of the throttle lock or AFE. But the good news is, if you don't use time acceleration it all behaves normally. So really not a big deal at all.
