Is there anyway to disable hyperthreading outside of the BIOS

Featured Replies

Hello,

I was trying to disable hyperthreading on my Lenovo y50 laptop, when I found out that there is no option in the BIOS to do so. I came across other users in the lenovo forums with the same issue,

Lenovo tech support's method to disable hyperthreading is to run msconfig > boot > advanced options > set no of processors to '4'. What this actually does is give me 2 physical hyperthreaded cores.

I tried to explain it to the tech support guys at lenovo with proof, but they refuse to accept that their method does not work.

The only option left is to somehow disable HT from outside the BIOS. Any ideas or suggestions as to how to go about it ?

Regards
