March 8, 200620 yr Hi all. Need some help.I've used the search function, and there's some good stuff there, but nothing specific. My question is simple - how do I intercept a Radial?I've found a couple of useful websites, but I'm still lost. Here's a simple example. I'm taking off out of NZWN, on runway heading 161, and looking at the chart I need to fly about 1.5 nms, intercept the 174 radial and fly to be at 4000 at PEGSA 10 DME away.Using the PMDG 737 for example, I know I can put PEGSA as the first waypoint in the LEGS page, but the plane will turn right when I hit LNAV, not when I hit the radial.Soooo.....what do I need to enter into the FMC to ensure the plane turns right when it hits the Radial, and follows the Radial to PEGSA?Annnnd.....will the answer for the 737 be the same for the LDS767?Thanks for your patience.TimNZWN

Enter the VOR in the Nav1 radio, adjust the course heaing to 174, take off, start a/p then hit NAV mode. The aircraft will acquire and fly the utbound radial as required. Once you fly PEGSA, switch to FMC and fly the rest from there under GPS/INS command. Alternatively, you could program the SID itself if FMC permits.Allcott
March 8, 200620 yr I'll try and help, I fly the 738 in real life for a UK charter (narrows it down!).We do fly some departures out of UK airfields that don't have SID's when this occurs we go heading select at four hundred feet and under radar proceed to the next waypoint via a radar heading. Now, if you want to do what you are saying you can create the waypoint as an intercept in the FMC, the way to do this is line select the PEGSA waypoint so it appears in the scratch pad then put it back to the top, it will open a a window in the bottom right of the FMC saying intc course so enter 174 as the radial, now when you take off hit LNAV the aircraft will fly wings level and then intercept the radial. To be able to be at PEGSA 10dme just line select PEGSA and write in the scratchpad after it /10 --- PEGSA/10 now put that ontop of PEGSA and then on the right enter the altitude as 4000A (A meaning VNAV will not use this as a hard altitude and aim to be A-bove 4000 by this point). Its difficult to explain as i'm not familiar with the airport and dep in question but hopefuly this will point you in the right direction. If you have anymore questions feel free to post.
March 8, 200620 yr Author Hi Tim,If you want to have the FMC fly the departure for you, place these lines in your NZWN.txt file in the PMDG/SIDSTARS folder right under the SID section of that file:SID PEGSA2 RNW 16 TRK 162 INTERCEPT RADIAL 174 FROM FIX WN NAVAID PEGSA 4000For the LDS763, go to the Legs page of the FMC and place WN at the top (1L LSK). In the scratchpad, type .vri/174/161/a/h and place it into the 1L LSK position. Next, add PEGSA at 2L LSK and put a speed and altitude restriction of 250/4000 at 2R LSK.
