March 13, 200620 yr Hi all,I'm having a problem syncing the heading indicator and the GPS. They are always 2 - 4 degrees different. This happens with all the planes I use. Mostly GA aircraft. How can I sync them? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,Gerry
March 13, 200620 yr If your heading indicator is set to the compass, or slaved to a compass, andYou have any crosswind, or perhaps the rudder is slightly out of trim at cruise speeds; then the heading indicator is showing the direction of the airplanes nose, while the GPS is showing the airplanes "track". It's not uncommon to be a few degrees off. These day's, when using an auto-pilot, I either adjust heading to match the GPS track by compensating a few degrees, or let the A/P follow the GPS's track. March 14, 200620 yr Author Thanks. I've been doing that. I was hoping for an easy solution but you are correct if the wind has the nose tracking a little off line there will be a difference.I forgot to mention that if I open Reality's GPS at the same time the default GPS is open, they are off a few degrees from each other.I'm not sure what is happening there. Thanks again,Gerry
