Removing Default AI Traffic

Featured Replies

Hey,I've been away from the Flight Sim world for a couple of years, and I've forgotten some of the many tricks I knew to make the game a more realistic experience. Namely removing the default AI traffic. I ran Project AI's "Default Commercial Traffic Remover" but the traffic is still there. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I am running FS2004, by the way.

Remove the traffic030528.bgl file from the Scenery/World/Scenery folder in your Flight Sim folder!Or: move it to the Scenery/World folder! Then you can move it back if you want to!That is the way I do it, because I use Ultimate Traffic instead!Haraldh F.

My FS crashes without any traffic BGL in any scenery layer (I use UT as well but moved the bgl it creates to a separate folder). So, I made myself a pretty small file with only 1 C-172 touch-'n'-go at some very, very remote field with traffic tools which acts as a placeholder so my FS dowsn't crash anymore in case I decide to not use the UT bgl.Andreas

If I remove the .bgl file, then install some Project AI packages, will they create a new traffic file? I'm not trying to get rid of all AI traffic, just the default stuff.

>If I remove the .bgl file, then install some Project AI>packages, will they create a new traffic file? I'm not trying>to get rid of all AI traffic, just the default stuff. The answer to this question is Yes.But in your original post, you stated that the PAI utility designed to remove default commercial traffic had left some behind; I noticed that too. I believe it is because Cessna Carivans (and perhaps some other default planes) serve two roles: some are GA planes and some are commercial and the PAI utility leaves them all alone. After I installed PAI commercial traffic, I just left the few Landmark C208s, etc. flying around with my new PAI traffic.Ultimately I got rid of all default traffic (by removing the default traffic .bgl file) and used Marcus Brunner's freeware GA-Traffic program to generate GA traffic. It left everything though, for some reason. I still have all the default MD-80s, 747s, 737s, etc.I guess I'll just remove the entire traffic file and start from scratch if that's the only way. The only downside to that is I'll have to reinstall all of the PAI packages I've installed.

Hi, If you visit www.calclassic.comyou will find lots of advice about AI planes and programs to install AI as well, including, now, early jets if you don't like props flying about! and there are GA planes as well, but i think you have to download the planes with that one. Tom Gibson explains how to adapt your scenery folders to get rid of the default stuff and have the other planes whizzing about instead!!Andy.I love props.:-yellow1
