French Project Concorde latest flight dynamics

Featured Replies

I have collected several different versions of flight dynamics files for this plane, including some by Pedro Oliveira, the latest as far as I can tell is version 2.1 filename pjcofd21.zip. Could anyone tell me if there is a later one than this or one perhaps another by a different author that improves further? I have installed it believing it to be the latest version but the plane seems somewhat underpowered, and even with the afterburners on the fuel ran low too soon and the CoG was no longer automatically controlled, thus making the plane pitch wrongly so I could not increase the speed to even near Mach 2. On the other hand perhaps this is correct and I need to learn more about flying it correctly. I have used Pedro's files for the 747-400 and found them to be very good.Edit. I should add that I am using FS2004.

Hi MachTwo,Thank you for your answer. I might do as you suggest, but I did download what was described as the latest dynamics from the fsfrance site and thought the plane was then too powerful, ie. I was able to easily get it to do what I wanted it to lol. I was also easily able to get it to 40,000 ft between EGLL and the Bristol Channel! I have a feeling that Pedro's file V2.1 might be closer to reality but was hoping to find out if he had done any later ones.I have a couple of tutorials that appear helpful. I'll try again and follow the procedures more closely. Then I will ask again if I find I need more info. I will also look around some FS sites to see if I can find anything more than I already have from Pedro. Thanks again,

Hi MachTwo,I tried another flight from EGLL to KJFK and this time paid more attention to procedures described as being how it was done in real life, such as turning off the afterburners for the climb to the Bristol Channel. I found that as long as I kept the speeds as fast as possible within the limits shown on the gauges (not sure if they correspond to how the real gauges worked) I could eventually attain the cruising speed of Mach 2. Since the flight took less than 3 1/2 hours (maybe it was even less than in real life) I think Pedro's v2.1 files must be pretty good after all.I have a question though if you don't mind: Should it be necessary to have an airspeed of up to 500kts at the times the gauge limit indicates so? From comparing the airspeed and mach gauges' limits (moveable orange pointers) it seems that way, but I'd like to be sure. I thought I had read somewhere that the maximum airspeed was either 400kts or 450kts hence the confusion.

Hi MachTwo,Thank you so much for your interesting and detailed answer which confirms everything I was unsure of. I am sure the payware versions are good but a favourite pastime of mine is to tweak interesting freeware to be as good as I can make it for my purposes, when I find it necessary. I have improved the panel by sorting out gauge problems, as some were missing. FS often used to crash when I got the Concorde as far as Ireland, but since sorting out the panel there has been no problem. From what you have said, last night's flight must have been fairly good then! Even the landing, after touchdown at which time I could not see the runway, it was gratifying to see that the plane was nicely lined up to the centreline once the front wheels touched down.Thank you again,
