March 21, 200620 yr I'm trying to come to grips with CTD's.I have certain combinations of time/season/location that will ctd. I'm just trying to figure out what I need to fix- be it a texture, afcad or other.I think it's texture related as Spring is changing things (and Summer has always been fine) What is the texture issue that causes CTD's?Thanks!
March 21, 200620 yr Commercial Member Hi there,if the issue is clearly tied to a specific season (or time of day) then it can either be the original seasonal CTD (fixed by MS with the FS9.1 upgrade) or a missing or faulty *ground* texture (missing object textures generally cause the object to show up in white and don't crash the sim). Those ground textures are stored in FS9Sceneryworldtexture and the FS9 originals can be found on disk 4. To test for missing textures you could load the default SceneryWorldtexture folder into a temporary folder, then copy the entire content of your current Worldtexture folder into the temporary folder, overwriting all. Then rename your current Worldtexture folder to texture.previous and use the new version instead. If the crashes remain then you probably have a faulty texture and thus would have to start with a clean version of the World/texture folder.Good luck with the hunt!Cheers, Holger
March 21, 200620 yr Thaks Holger. That's the info I needed.I figured that it must be a bad "master" texture, but the crashes are new, and definately seasonal. I could eliminate them if I disabled particular scenery (CVG2002- updated for 2004) plus other locations that did not have local scenery updates. I flew out of CVG during the day yesterday, so Spring day is OK. Night is still worth a crash.I'm flying through CVG in 7 weeks on vacation, and I wanted to duplicate my flights :)I do have the 9.1 update so it should not be the seasonal CTD.I'll try rolling back the textures to default and see what happens. It's just really frustrating.Tim
