March 29, 200620 yr I just got the Carenado 206... When in spot view, the pitch of the aircraft definitely does not match the pitch indication on the VSI. When climbing at say 600-800FPM, in spot view the place appears to be flying almost level. When decending at 300-400 fpm, it appears to be in a much steeper descent. I even tried 1500fpm climb and, to me anyway, it does not look like 1500 fpm that I have seen in any other aircraft.. Has anyone ever exerienced this? I loaded different aircraft to see if was consistant but no, just with the 206-all versions. There may also be something different in the sight picture out the windshield in the 2D and VC , especially in descent. When on close final it's easy to lose the runway in 2D as if I were descending much more steeply than I am..... I'm trying every combination of view adjustments possible.. to see what is really happening here..The real issue is the first--- the spot view discrepancy..but I'm thinking there may be a connection..Other than that, I'm really enjoying my first 2 days with the 206..thanks to the comments of many others here at AVSIM...
March 29, 200620 yr I didn't see anything that really seems un-ordinary. At 600-800 fpm climb, the wing is at a definate positive angle of attack. Keep in mind, that the wing's incidence angle to the fusalage center line can vary between aircraft, as well as an engine/prop being canted on an angle to the centerline. As to the sight picture in the 2D mode, the full panel being as deep as it is, will definately cover part of the runway view. You can double click the glare sheild and get a landing view, what's very close to real life.Regarding VC's, I often use the shift/enter keys to technically raise my seat for a realistic sight picture. I also use shift Z for digital speed readouts while landing. Much easier than shifting focus looking for small monitor sized gauges.L.Adamson
March 29, 200620 yr Author Thanks for the input..I'm aware of wing incidence, etc.. I know about the landing view(if you re-read my post you can see that the runway does not disappear beneath the glareshield, but above the roof-just the opposite.......and I've tried all different combinations of 2d and VC view adjustments...I know they are always a little different on different aircraft(I even keep notes on each plane)Maybe it's just me but the 206, at least to my eyes, looks quite different in pitch vis a vis climb/descent rate than any other aircraft I have.. I'll keep playing with it..Thanks again for taking the time to for your suggestions..
