Help with creating aircraft texture!

Hello I'm about to create a virtual airline! I of course needed some aircraft but I don't know how to create a custom texture. Any help world be kindly appreciated! Also I would need to know a program that I can use to create custom textures! Thanks! I do not need to create a MODEL I just need the steps to create a TEXTURE and how to put it in FSXSE to use.
