April 17, 200620 yr How is it this bird has been such a well kept secret? Maybe others don't rate as highly - i don't know?http://www.commerciallevel.com/?/home/For me, the flight model and ext are right up there with the best. As for the sound pack.... absolutely stunning! Far better than many other payware releases(IMO). Mind.... at over 90Mb on it's own, i guess it should be.Just the panels that let it down. Especially the 2D. Unless of course, you're after a simple non-systems affair, which many are i know. Not being a pilot, obviously i'm not able to know, but it FEELS so remarkably 'HEAVY', and for me, that is what's important - the feel. Bringing it safely down in gusty crosswinds are nothing short of exhilerating. April 17, 200620 yr It definately looks nice, but without a FMC that compares with PMDG and Level D for functionality i'm going to pass on it.Richard
April 17, 200620 yr IMHO even without a fully functional MCDU, this is probally one of the very few that IS worth it. Myself being one, that the first thing i look at with an add-on is an FMC/MCDU. I fell for it and do love flying it.
April 17, 200620 yr It would be nice if CLS delivered on an A320 series as the shorter routes would be more appropriate for a 'lite' aircraft. Long Haulers that aren't hardcore doesn't make since to me. For example, the time it takes to realistically fly from Heathrow to KJFK, a 'lite' aircraft seems pointless. That's when you need an aircraft with advanced avionics and such as that would greatly enhance the whole flight and kill some of that mindless boredom that often comes when flying long haul flights. Ready For Pushback and PMDG are great examples of hardcore heavies
April 17, 200620 yr Yea Im very happy with my CLS. Im not into realistic avionics simulation, GPS direct and Im off and this A345 & A346 from CLS are perfect for long hauls.I know the hyper-real simmers are not happy because of lack of complex avionics but its not all bad...you guys have the PMDG 744 to play with :)On a sidenote: I did not like the sounds that came with the CLS planes and came across a much better soundset on Avsim. Its wicked! Sounds awesome if you have good headphones or PC speakers with a sub! Check it out:http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=...hor=&CatID=rootOf course sound is highly subjective...u might like the original but give these a try :)
April 18, 200620 yr >What's an airbus without fly-by-wire and a fully functional>fms? Pass.Very True how about a 2d and 3d cockpit that looks like an airbus because CLS dont, i mean really if you can deal with flying these very poor buses fine but PSS do buses which are much older but much better and cheap
April 18, 200620 yr I dont think PSS does fly by wire and I dont think their flight dynamics are that good, if they were, there wouldn't be a need to have somebody else do an updated FDE
April 18, 200620 yr What should definitely be paid back to CLS is that their models look really excellent. One of the best ones around, frankly speaking. Don't know how they fly since I don't own them. But I won't be buying CLS, either, thinking similarly to Chris W. I'm not a fly-in-five-minutes pilot (Shift+E), especially if it goes for a 12-hr-long flight (or longer). There must be something to do in the meantime. What's more, I also fly online (VATSIM) and I need a realistic and up-to-date navdata in my MCDU.But I know there is a market for easy aircraft and CLS aims at this particular area. Great pity to us (the model looks really great, let me say that again), but manufacturers choose what they want to and that fact must be accepted.Let's hope one day CLS makes, say, two versions to choose: one cheaper for Shift+Ers (no offence, just kidding) and one more expensive for as-real-as-it-get-ers. ;)Best regards,Rafal
April 18, 200620 yr That's quite easy actually.1) The A345/6 hasn't really been done at all.2) The people who enjoy 'lite' aircraft generally aren't afraid to use time acceleration. And because the systems are 'lite', you can bump it up to 8x or even 16x without the autopilot going completely crazy.Still makes it an intermediate aircraft with an intermediate experience, in effect flying longhaul in a short haul time frame. What's the point of most freeware long haul aircraft, panels or the default 747 and 777 in those cases. As ever, FS caters to a wide range of people and that's a good thing, so while it seems pointless to you, its just what some others have been looking for. :)
April 18, 200620 yr I own CLS A340-500 and -600 and I must say they're very good additions to my Airbus collection, their model is fantastic and accurate! the panel is not that bad, I like it, I'm the type of person who wants to fly as soon as I get into FS9, I do own PMDG 747-400 which requires me to program the FMC and follow the procedures to fly it properly, I do enjoy that as well.I wished for A340-500 and A340-600 model and I want high quality ones! I do not care if it's payware and CLS does the A340-600 which comes first which really makes me very happy! I immidiately purchased it. It's not that cheap around AU$49 but I did not mind! they deserved it! the efforts they put is already satisfies me and I believe many of their customers! Then comes A340-500, I immidiately bought it, for around AU$15 that's ok! I fly them and enjoyed it a lot!.Thanks CLS Team :)
