April 19, 200620 yr I just started using FDC. I love it!!! A fantastic CRM enviroment!! Nothing better than to have a crew working together flying big iron. BUT!!!!! As soon as I made one flight,,, and began descending the screen turned black and I got the death certificate notice stating that FS9 encountered a problem and has to shutdown,,,,. The error report stated that a module called ATC.DLL was at fault. I did some things to no avail and finally sought assistance. I was directed here to this forum. There is a lot of 'spinning of wheels' on the subject. SO!!! it has been a problem for a while. I found references to this particular CTD occuring as early as 2004. But it is obviously not a big problem. Right? Otherwise FDC would be fixed by now. BUT!! it is happening to what appears to be a select few. I am one of them. So! For all those that have the wonderful privlidge of running FS9 with FDC painlessly (Regarding this issue) Can you please advise me on ANYTHING that you know about this problem and how you beat it?I love this program and really want to get up and going with it!!!
April 19, 200620 yr I got a ATC.dll error not too long ago while using Radar Contact. I was able to clear it up by installing FSUIPC beta V2.5.5.3. You can grab it off Pete's forum http://forums.simflight.com/viewforum.php?f=54 .It is a beta release so it may cause you other problems.Dennis Di Franco
April 20, 200620 yr Good luck. I and others have tried in vain to track down specific solutions. I started a thread about 2 months ago on this topic. Ray Proudfoot chimed in notifying us all that ATC.DLL is known to be a buggy and flawed DLL file with no known solution. A couple of us thought it was related to overcrowding of the skys with AI. I have been suspect of that as well as the voice ATC program, which I shall not mention by name, that somehow brings out the flaws in that DLL. Likely there are many things that could "stress" ATC.DLL to dysfunction, but nobody is privy to what they all are or how to fix any of it perfectly. Hopefully FSX will "fix" the problem. Until then, good luck !!Randy Jura, KPDX
April 20, 200620 yr In addition to being on the FDC Team, I have used it WITH the built in FS9 (and Fs2002 before it)ATC for years. Never had any problem with ATC.dll and Atc.dll is NOT a part of FDC. In all the testing we have done with FDC over a number of years, through a number of versions, this has never been a problem. Not has it been reported on the FDC forum AFAIK as an FDC problem.Do the blackbox logs and error logs from FDC indicate that it encountered a problem?? I would suggest you post your questions on the FDC forum here at Avsim though. Dave March may have some info for you that I do not. As someone else mentioned, be sure you are using a current version of FSUIPC though--does not have to be a registered version. When you do post, be sure you tell Dave which versions of FSUIPC and FDC you are using. Also be prepared to send him copies of the logs I mentioned above to help in any trouble shooting he may need to do.Regards,Paul
April 20, 200620 yr I find it strange that this problem occurs only enough to be VERY irritating to only a few. I say 'few' because it seems that nothing is being done about it.So far I have re-installed the ATC.DLL from the FS9 discs as well as do a few other things including updating FSUIPC to 3.53For those that state they NEVER have this CTD. Your setup obviously is different from the signifigant number of people that are having this problem. (Otherwise, why would there be complains and concernes about it over the past months,, years?) There has got to be a link here. I mean some have it and some don't!!! What is the difference? What is the problem? It only happens on decent or just after landing and taxiing from the runway. Consistanly!
April 20, 200620 yr Well. Here is the answer. You can't get better than this! Afterall, it is from the top! Isn't it?If you have an CTD caused by ATC.DLL this has absolutely nothing at all to do with FDCRegardsDave MarchOnCourse Software Ltdwww.oncourse-software.co.uk
April 20, 200620 yr Not sure why you would want to post here if you believe this to be an FDC issue as we have our own support forum. Actually I rarely visit this forum and certainly not when looking for support requests for FDC.In the meantime I repeat what I said to you in an earlier reply and to the numerous emails you sent... if you're experiencing CTD problems and Windows is detecting the failing module to be ATC.DLL this has nothing at all to do with FDC. We (FDC) knows nothing about this module, does not use it (directly) or interact with it in any way shape or form.CheersDave March http://www.oncourse-software.co.uk/forum_images/fdc_dev.jpgEmail:[email protected] Website:http://www.oncourse-software.co.uk
April 20, 200620 yr Author Moderator Hi Randy and all,I did mention in another thread a few weeks ago that there could be a solution to the ATC.DLL crash. I didn't name the programmer at the time because it wouldn't have been fair had he not been able to produce a fix.It will probably come as no surprise to most of you that the programmer in question is Pete Dowson and he has managed to trap some (I repeat some) instances of this bug in a new version of FSUIPC.DLL. It only applies when running external ATC programs such as Radar Contact and will not resolve the problem when running the default ATC in FS9.Here's a snip from his announcement... " [New in 3.553] A special facility is provided to apply patches to FS2004 Ray (Cheshire, England). System: P3D v5.3HF2, Intel i9-13900K, MSI 4090 GAMING X TRIO 24G, Crucial T700 4Tb M.2 SSD, Asus ROG Maximus Z790 Hero, 32Gb Corsair Vengeance DDR5 6000Mhz RAM, Win 11 Pro 64-bit, BenQ PD3200U 32” UHD monitor, Fulcrum One yoke, Fulcrum Throttle Quadrant.
