Real Sky 2 and ASV6

Featured Replies

Hi allWas wondering if anyone is running these two together. If so, how have you done it. I know that it is possible if you have ASV^, Real Sky 2 and FE, but I don't have FE and was wondering whether Real Sky is worth it.Thakns in advanceMike

Hi Mike. Funny you should ask that question as I just thought about it last night. If you look in the screenshot forum on page 5 I think there is a user who writes about the combination. I just purchased Real sky 2 last night but don

Hi Mike,Just use ASv6 for your weather and use Real Sky 2 or FE for your clouds/sky. You have to manually submit or have auto-submit checked On to get ASv6 to change any textures.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter

I have Real Sky, FE and ASV6. I use ASV6 for weather control and the FE clouds in the optional DXT3 format to maximize performance, as mine is a mid-range PC. Some of the replacement files in Real Sky are in 32 bit RGB format and are larger than the FE DXT3 files and I was worried about a drop in performance. There are a number of options:1. Install the whole Real Sky package and see if it makes any difference to performance on your system. 2. Convert the Real Sky cloud files to DXT3 format with image tool3. Keep using the FE clouds and only install part of the Real Sky package.I like the FE clouds but I really like the Real Sky colours too so I went for option 3. To do this, I installed Real Sky to a dummy folder. The files unzip to various folders with names corresponding to those in the FS9 file structure. You get files in the FS9 root folder, Effects, EffectsTexture, Texture, SceneryWorldTexture, as well as new weather themes and a new splash screen.I just took the sky colours from the dummy Texture folder and copied them to the main Texture folder in the FS9 file structure. OK, I miss out on some of the goodies that Real Sky provides but at least I get some great skies.I'd be interested to learn if the whole Real Sky package makes any difference to other people's system performance. If not, I might just try the whole package (with backups at the ready of course!).Cheers,Noel.

Got any screenshots to show how your setup looks in sim? Oh heck I might be better saving my pennies for the computer upgrade for FSX...
