May 26, 200620 yr To the author or authors of aewfv01.zip the Earhart scenery: Charles Wood Mike White, Dave Bitzer, Norman Hancock, Alex Nicolson, Mark Beaumont, Al Gay, Johan van Wyk, and Tim Cook. I appreciate your work that you did on AE's world flight. It is well researched. I see that your howland island scenery has only the runways laid out.Awhile back I was able to talk Al Heline and Jim Bosworth into doing a Howland island scenery for our research effort. They laid out tents, personnel, flag pole and a fuel supply waiting for AE & FN. Off shore the Itasca drifted, waiting for the Electra. Also Howland had an NDB that could be picked up around 40 nm to simulate the signals coming from the Itasca.Quote from the file:"FS-2004 - Howland Island 1937 by Al Heline and Jim Bosworth. This Pacific Basin island was ready for the arrival of Amelia Earhart on July 2, 1937. The scenery includes geodetic correction to the island, Itasca Town, and the USCG cutters Itasca and Swan. Step back in history to when the island was inhabited, it is no longer." Filename: howland.zip License: Freeware, limited distribution Added: 20th December 2004 Downloads: 585 Author: Al Heline, Jim Bosworth Size: 4272kb I want to use this Howland island scenery for my own personal use and still keep your scenery with the Lae airport and extras.I have already tried using both in my addon scenery and it doesn't work. I think I will only have to delete or rename a couple of scenery bgls in your file, but which ones?I hope you can identify the files for me and any other forum members who want to use howland.zip in the AVSIM library for their own personal use. thanks for your scenery and the research effort.
May 26, 200620 yr DaryllI've alerted the team to your post. I wasn't involved in this effort personally (excepting that a little work of mine is incorporated) so leave others to reply. May 27, 200620 yr Hi Daryll,To remove the Howland Island scenery from aewfv01.zip, go to each of the three scenery folders (Exact names are in the "Getting Started Manual" if your memory is as bad as mine), and remove any file with "KHAQ" in it. That should be three files per folder. In addition, for the scenery folder that has the word "NDB" in its title, you must also remove "AE63"When I'm playing with scenery files, putting them in and out, I usually add a "0" (zero) to the extension, thus "AE63.0bgl" which nicely removes it, but allows easy replacement if you accidentally went to work on the wrong file. Then when everything is the way you want it, just delete the files with a "0" in the extension. There are two or three technical issues we should talk about re the Howland Island scenery file if you or one of the scenery developers would like to Email me. (Not talking about any historical points, here.)Charles Wood
