No Information for Imported User Waypoints

Featured Replies

I was hoping to use Little Nav Map to obtain LAT/LON coordinates for user waypoints that Pro-ATC X sometimes creates for departures and approaches (then I can enter the waypoint into the FMS).
The generated flight plans import perfectly into Little Nav Map, but unlike the standard waypoints in the Navigraph database, the "Show Information" option is grayed out.
I currently use Plan-G for this purpose, but Litte Nav Map is so much better, yet it's missing this feature.  Is there a setting that needs to be changed in Litte Nav Map to obtain these coordinates?  Can this feature be added?

Thank you!

Neal

Hi Neal,

I'm working on the user waypoint management right now (see my Twitter link). Can you give me an example for such a flight plan?

What formats does the FMC want? Here is a chapter in the manual which describes all coordinate formats: https://albar965.gitbooks.io/little-navmap-user-manual/content/en/ROUTEDESCR.html

I think you could simply call "Flight Plan" -> "New Flight Plan from Route Description" after loading and you will see the coordinates in a FMC format like 3455S17245E. Try that out.

"Show information" does not work on these points. The only active option is "Edit name for user point ..."

Hi Alex,

Thanks so much for responding!  The Aerosoft MCDU that comes with the Airbus A318/A319/A320/A321 can import .PLN files. Otherwise you have to manually create the plan in the FMS.

The way Pro-ATC/X works, is that you create a flight plan using the route description format. When you request clearance, Pro-ATC/X will then add the SID/STAR (and associated transition waypoints) and generate a .PLN file that can be imported into the FMS.

The issue I have is that sometimes Pro ATC/X s will add a fake waypoint (typically named CRDWF) to that .PLN used for vectoring into an approach. For some reason that fake waypoint doesn't make it into the FMS when the .PLN is imported.

My current work-around is to open the .PLN in Plan-G.  When viewed there I can see the waypoint, view its LAT/LON coordinates and use that info to manually put the waypoint into the FMS.

I was hoping to be able to do that with Little Navmap.

I tried this, but it says "Nothing found for CRDWF. Ignoring" and deletes it when you save the flight plan.

Thanks again!

Neal,

I need one of these flight plans. :smile:

I think have an idea what's going on there but I'd like to have a look at the PLN file from Pro-ATC/X first

If the CRDWF shows up red in LNM: Klick on the flight plan leg and press Ctrl+C. This will copy the leg int CSV format into the clipboard which contains the coordinates too.

Another solution: You can also create and save the flight plan in LNM and then copy the route description to Pro-ATC/X.

Alex,

Yes! The copy/paste does the job!  Thank you!

I will send a PRO-ATC/X generated PLN to you using the email url on your website.

Thanks again!

Neal

Hi Neal,

thank you for the flight plan. I see what's wrong there. PRO-ATC/X does *not* save the CRDWF waypoint as an user defined one. So, what they save is:

<ATCWaypoint id="CRDWF">
  <ATCWaypointType>Intersection</ATCWaypointType>
  <WorldPosition>N38° 34' 51.00",W77° 7' 56.00",+005500.00</WorldPosition>
  <ICAO>
    <ICAOIdent>CRDWF</ICAOIdent>
  </ICAO>
</ATCWaypoint>

this is not right since it does not exist in the database.

It should be saved as a user defined waypoint like this instead:

<ATCWaypoint id="CRDWF">
    <ATCWaypointType>User</ATCWaypointType>
    <WorldPosition>N38° 34' 50.96",W77° 7' 56.01",+000000.00</WorldPosition>
</ATCWaypoint>

I'd say this is a bug or an omission on their side. Not sure, maybe they have a reason for it. I'm sure the FMC could load it too if they'd save the waypoint as above. This would also save you all the coordinate copying.

Feel free to refer to this thread if you like to report this.

BTW: You can also fix this in LNM if you create a user defined waypoint right above CRDWF and then delete the red one.

Alex,

Thanks for the info.  Unfortunately, the Aerosoft Airbus FMS isn't accepting the LAT/LONG in decimal format, even though the manual clearly shows how to do it.  I plug in the coordinates the manual gives as an example and of course those work.  But when I do for the CRDWF waypoint it says BAD FORMAT. Scratching my head over this. Doesn't have a problem with the DMS format.  Not sure what I'm doing wrong if anything. :-)

I tried this too. I exported to FLP format, and even got it into the FMS.  However when I plugged in the departure and arrival, the user waypoint disappeared!

Pro-ATC/X is expected to release a long awaited update this week.  I'll see if the problem goes away and take it from there.

Thanks again for your help!

Neal

Hi Alex

Where is this road description you mentioned? "Another solution: You can also create and save the flight plan in LNM and then copy the route description to Pro-ATC/X"

Mark

Just slightly off topic - I have just found littlenapmap and wow awesome work Alex! Just one thing  - I pay navigraph every month for airac data I was wondering does LNM show fixes and intersections because I can't work out how to show this on the map.  (I have user waypoints showing)

Using p3dv4.3

Thanks

Matt
