June 13, 200619 yr Nowadays when I use new add-on sceneries I see white block houses and white trees. It seems some textures are missing. Default textures are OK, I can not experience any problem with default scenery and with older add-ons.What could be the problem? This is a screen-shot from a scenery:http://xaknak.f2s.com/fs/texture.JPGGabor
June 13, 200619 yr Author As you state - you are missing texture files. The hard part is figuring out which texture files. The first thing would to be to examine any readme or install files with the addon scenery. They might list files, or might recommend files be put in specific different folders. The scenery, especially freeware, might expect you to already have some "basic" libraries of scenery files on your computer - Nova Gold, VOD, etc.But without looking at that exact scenery setup files, we can't really offer much more advice.I'll bet the diamond shapped objects are trees.
June 13, 200619 yr These are very simple sceneroes, requiring to copy a folder structure (xxxscenery and xxxtexture) to the Addon Scenery folder. Nothing real install and no extra textures in any other folders.>The scenery, especially freeware, might expect you to already>have some "basic" libraries of scenery files on your computer>- Nova Gold, VOD, etc. This could happen, but not mentioned in the readme-sLet's see this small scenery about an airport nearby Paris:http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=13988The only thing I change is that I am using another folder in the Addon Scenery folder, not the one they define in the package. I.e. instead of"Addon Scenerylfpz" I use "Addon SceneryLFPZ (St Cyr lEcole)". This works fine with any other sceneries.Maybe if some of you would spend 5 minutes to install (copy) the scenery and check it...Gabor
June 13, 200619 yr Author Okay, you've been caught in one of the continual problems of large libraries like this one.A search on the author's last name shows three sceneries for this airport - two for FS2002 and one for FS2004.The updated FS2002 scenery is the one you've downloaded.Do you have FS2004 or FS2002 ?All are apparently incomplete - something which can happen easily because we often forget how many non-default files we have on our computers. No excuse for not including the correct ones - just a reason why it happens. It also appears the author has dropped out of the e-mail and his personal website. Unfortunate, but it does happen.Download the FS2004 update and copy the AIRP*.OAV files to the texture folder.Download and install trees_v3.zip by Gerrish Gray from the Flightsim.com or Avsim.com library. Place the file Trees_0.bgl in the Flight Simulator 9SceneryGenericscenery folder. Place the texture files in the main texture folder.I'll do more testing later today
June 13, 200619 yr Thanks very much! Indeed based on your previous email I started to look for these packages, but not yet figured out, which one to use. I do not like to install everything in the main FS folders. it seems I have to do it with some basic add-on packages.I use FS2004. If you figure out something, please let me know. Meanwhile i also try to solve the problem and report the results here.Gabor
June 13, 200619 yr One BGL contains a reference to a Treeoak.r8 file that does not exist. I found it on the web and put it into the texture but did not work - of course it is not a very professional method...
June 13, 200619 yr Author That file is part of ASD21txt.zip a group of textures - which were a common texture set from Abacus' "Airport & Scenery Designer" V 2.1.I'm not aware of them in the Avsim library. They are in the FlightSim.com library. Check the "Must Have Files" list from thier Main Menu sub-page for several critical texture sets.
