FS9 Closing unexpectedly

Featured Replies

Hi all,has anyone managed to find out why FS9 can just disappear some times, without warning, or error messages.I have also checked in the event viewer, but it just said "The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer."any suggestions guy's.PS this a fresh install of Win XP Pro, with SP2.all drivers etc are current.ATI XT850 PE, Intel 3.40Thanks

Steve,Which event viewer had this message (Application, System, or Security)? The error message is pretty common (there were a lot of web results for the error message when I did a google search). If it didn't mention FS9 or a FS9 "dll" I'm guessing it's hardware related or a driver problem. What were you doing when it crashed? Flying? or just opening FS9? Did you recently install a new aircraft or scenery? Is it occurring all the time? Missing or bad textures could be the culprit too. There's just too many possible causes to include duplicate AFCAD's; bad sound or video card drivers; and corrupted Scenery.cfg to name just a few more. Check your event viewer and look for error events prior to the event you indicated in your message. Try to determine what you were doing prior to the event error(s) showing up and maybe uninstall the potential problem and see if that fixes it. Hope this helps and good luck.Best regards,JimYoung

A few of us were posting on this problem a while back, but could not find a common cause. See the following thread: http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...ing_type=searchA potential commonality was we were using drives in a RAID configuration. For what it's worth, I have rebuilt my machine about a month ago, and set up my HDs in as two separate drives and have not had the problem since.Kylehttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpg

Hi,I have NO additional scenery installed at all guy's, and I only have the one HDD, it's a SATA 160 Gig.everything is default, except for the few aircraft listed below.the only aircraft I have in that are not default are the PMDG 747, Level D 767, and PSS A330, but I also checked to make sure that my registered copy of FSUIPC was still OK, and the latest one too.One thing that I have noticed, and I am not trying to flame the product, is that these only seem to occur when I start using SB3,when these things happen it's usually more or less straight away, or just after starting SB3 and doing on-line flying with VATSIM.this is the only commonality that I could think of,what do you guy's think !Thanks,

In my case I had a bad traffic .bgl- It was a combined US Airways America West with partners (regionals) where I had some aircraft not assigned. THis would cause a CTD every time with no errors. Delete the BGL, and all was OK.It was very easy to diganose since it was the ONLY change made prior to the crashes. Before, and since deletion, all has been perfect.

does anyone know of any services that must be running for FS to run properly,IE, I may have a service not set to start, or disabled that FS9 specifically requires,I just find it strange that it just closes and leaves me looking at the desktop with no explanation or log in the event viewer to tell me why,as I mentioned earlier, I have no add-on scenery at all, and just a couple of planes, apart from that it's default FS9.1 patched.thanks for any suggestions.

anyone have any other suggestions at all,Thanks.

Most common cause of a problem like this is trouble in your Direct X system somewhere. Video and sound card drivers are the best place to start.Rob
