I am in the process of upgrading my PC, and do not want to lose all of my P3D stuff that is on this computer. Will just moving the hard drive keep it? Or will I have to do something else, such as an external hard drive or SSD?

You can maintain the hdd simply disconnecting it from the motherboard or you can clone it in a ssd or in a hdd
