PMDG Pricing Policy: Switching to P3D V4

Featured Replies

Good Morning,

So as you may guess from the title I have grown tired of FSX. Upon weighing up the options, I plan to switch to P3D V4 soon. I have been a proud owner of the 737NGX for many years, and have accrued a good 100+ hours on it (not the most I know, but it counts!). It's always worked flawlessly and been an impressive piece of software. The only issue for me for purchasing the aircraft again in P3D is the great paywall. Now, I don't feel the need to discuss WHY this is a problem just yet, as it should be obvious. 90 dollars is a significant sum. Having read up on PMDG pricing policies already on the forum, it seems responses are mostly from members of the general public as opposed to PMDG themselves, who neither confirm nor deny the justifications for the high price.

So from my perspective as a loyal customer I would obviously prefer to pay for the product, but I see other companies like HiFi and Majestic offering Upgrade discounts as high as 66% off. It is far easier to fork over the money to them. From my reading on the forum already though, there is some particular reason PMDG is unable, and I am just curious as to what exactly that is because it makes it hard for customers to purchase your products. Ideally, would an upgrade discount be available, I would re purchase the NGX and subsequently buy the 777, possibly spending more in total. It is my sincere hope that the high price tag is some kind of technical necessity, though with that said it doesn't make it anymore affordable for me. Perhaps some kind of flexibility in pricing, not only for upgrades, would be a good marketing idea (e.g. 737 + 777 + 777 Expansion for less than full price)

Nonetheless I am thrilled that PMDG have a mode of contact and welcome open discussion. Many companies these days do not permit any form of contact easily. Furthermore, PMDG products are second to none. I simply hope to continue being a regular PMDG customer and pilot.

Looking forward to discussion
