August 18, 200619 yr Hi Simmers,Two Aussies achieve a coup at PCPilot Magazine.Well, Warwick Carter's excellent Gee Bee has hit the big time - she is the feature aircraft release in the October/Novermber 2006 Issue of PCPilot Magazine. To top it off, PCPilot staff have actually used her for the cover of Issue No 42 Release. This is, I believe the first time a non payware aircraft has featured as the cover art. Now some more good news - it is being released with my artwork for all of the liveries, the three special Transload Virtual Airlines liveries, the Standard Gee Bee livery, and a PC Pilot Special livery.See PCPilot site - http://www.pcpilot.netSee Transload - http://www.transloadairlines.comSome additional texture sets for her are available on my site:http://www.gjsmith.net Just click on the Catalogue Button and check out the Gee Bee.The absolutely great news is that the TRANSLOAD Yellow livery (Ken Paulick's Special (CEO TVA)) is the one used on the front cover. Some great advertising for one of the Best VA's on the Net. http://www.gjsmith.net/public/PCPilot-cover-Oct-Nov.jpgText of the Mail from PCPilot advising that the aircraft would be the cover and feature download.QUOTEHi Garry,I thought I Garry J. August 18, 200619 yr Well done, Garry and Warwick! I've always been a fan of the GeeBee, and have installed every one ever produced for flightsim ... your textures on this latest version of Warwick's are indeed great work, Garry. One thing while I have your attention ... the air dynamics. Have I got her set up wrong, or is the airfile a little more sluggish than it should be? She should be very sensitive to all inputs, surely ... but I find her slow to roll and impossible to fly upside down, for example, without her heading straight for the hard bit down below. Is this just me? August 19, 200619 yr Author Hi Mark,It is just you mate :-) - Warwick builds the aircraft dynamics very close to the original aircraft based on some extensive research that he does for all of his models. You have to remember the Vintage of this girl and she had a lot of flaws in her design - not an overly successful creation this aircraft. But she looks pretty......The real aircraft was indeed sloppy in almost all manoeuvres and true to form if you fly her inverted for too long the engine will cut out - was not designed for inverted flight (as you have discovered) - also if you hold her at full throttle for too long then the engine will quite - sometimes you can restart her and sometimes you can't. Implementing these and other "features" of the aircraft took some considerable development by Warwick to get her as close to real life performance as possible. I hate trying to land her as she is very critical on landings and will bounce at the slightest hint of wrong angle or speed. In real life I thing you had to be very couragous to fly this girl - rife with flaws in many aspects. Regards mate and happy simming. Garry J. Smith Aircraft Texture Tinkerer
