CTD.s

If anyone has been suffering with CTD's and are using Ground Envionment Pro and Flight Envionment maybe the following will help.Since downloading and using GE Pro four weeks ago I have been having constant random CTD's and system reboot crashes varying between one to thirty minutes of starting FS9. GE Pro allows the loading of new sky textures to go with the different ground textures available and this is causing my system to crash. After loading FE to FS9 followed by GE the FE sky textures are be overwitten by GE and then I have CTD's. If I load FE then GE ground textures only then I have no crashes suggesting a confict between FE and GE Pro sky textures. Because of my system specs I use FE DXT and low res textures and maybe this has something to do with it. This CTD cure worked for me and is possibly worth passing on. I've had very few CTD's since I started simming with FS5 and I can now sympathise with anyone who is having crashes and the frustation it causes and time spent trying to find a reason why.Tip: I use a Nvidia 6600GT graphics card running at 550/1000 and I recently downloaded the extreme G 91-45 drivers from Tweaks R Us. These new drivers allow Transparancy Antialiasing on the 6600. I have mine set to supersampling, no shimmering trees or buildings and sharper graphics on user and ai planes plus no frame rate hit.

Hi,Do you have Render to Texture turned on in FS04? If it is off, then CTDs can occur when using DXT textures. Please let us know,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

Can't say that's happened on my system, but I just purchased FE and have been using it's sky textures, not the GE Pro ones.I have the same video card, so I might look into the drivers.

Jim, Yes I have render to texture turned on. One thing I forgot to mention in my original post was that if I flew after dark the crashes did not occur. When looking at the GE sky texture files they only replace the daylight files in FS9, and this again pointed me to a possible conflict between GE Pro and FE. I now do not overwrite FE sky textures with the GE Pro Sky textures and since doing this I,ve had no crashes. Even if this is a solution that helps a very few simmers out there then it's worth a try. After reading posts about CTD's in FS9 it seem there are so many things that can cause them and its forums like this that keep most simmers from giving up by being able to share problems and cures.

Hi,I would try a second FS install and just put GE and FE on. Then see if the CTDs occur. Out of the many users who have purchased FE and GE and use them together we have never heard of this.Keep us up to date if you would,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
