November 28, 20187 yr Interesting video. Another interesting fact about them and nuclear subs, my father, Michael Cillis, a health physicist, wrote the safety specifications for the US Nuclear fleet as a civilian for the US Navy out of Mare Island from the mid 60's to the early 1980's before becoming a regional safety manager for the Nuclear Regulatory commission. Admiral Hyman Rickover tried to block his transfer to the NRC and Congress had to intervene. His safety regulations have helped with the safety of NATO nuclear fleets worldwide. During Chernobyl he was asked to provide assistance but could not due to security and logistical issues. I and everyone in our family had to receive FBI clearance due to sensitive information we knew about his job, although were you to ask me I would not have a clue. He had health physicist magazines but they were literally "All Greek to me". Among the things we had in our home were dosimeters and a Geiger counter. Good toys to have around, especially during the height of the cold war. John
