Can't un-zip the demo. Please help.

Featured Replies

Dear fellow simmers.Downloaded the demo 5 times.Tried to install on 3 different computers.Result: The demo would'nt un-zip. The computers freezes in the end of the un-zip process. No fault-message appear. Please help. I have used/bought FS since FS III, and i would realy like to try the new one.Thanks.Jan S. Andersen

Are you referring to the unpack process during the install that is failing or are you trying to do some sort of winzip extract? I don't recall this being reported before and it sounds like a pc issue of some sort. There might be an md5 sum file around somewhere you can use to check your download but I don't think anyone reported download issues they couldn't resolve.Have you confirmed enough free disk is available for the demo? Note that it does require you to have XP SP2 installed. Some people reported MSXML issues and a possible fix is mentioned here. http://blogs.msdn.com/tdragger/archive/200.../11/696112.aspxPhil.

Had the same problem. Used WinRar to unpack the install file and was able to install the demo this way. Lars

In addition to what larshall said about using WinRar, if you're using WinXP, you can also just change the file extension from ".exe" to ".zip" then use the ZIP extraction wizard in XP to extract the contents. After the contents are extracted run setup.exe.-Thad

It is in the end of the un-pack process the system hangs. I have tried to change extension to .zip - same problem.I tried to install on 3 totally different pc's - same problem on all. The only common thing on these pc's is the winXP pro, the install-cd is a multi-license copy, from my company. SP2 is installed on all pc's.I have a very bad feeling over this .....Thanks for the answers.

Hello again.Problem solved. I got the files on a DVD from a friend. Installation went on without any problems.I am now happy and flying ....Yours ....
