MSXML4 SP2 Demo Error

Featured Replies

I've tried to install and run the demo with no success. The demo seemed to install fine. But when trying to run the demo I get the following message:"The MSXML4 SP2 Component is not installed. Please reinstall Flight Simulator to restore or repair this missing component."I have uninstalled and reinstalled the demo. I have tried installing it on a different drive. I have downloaded msxml.msi from Microsoft and installed that. I still get that message when I try to start the demo.Has anyone else run up against this problem, and if so have you solved it?

I've already got all the latest updates and SP2, otherwise I wouldn't have mentioned the problem.

..had that been mentioned in the first place, I wouldn't have mentioned a possible solution, especially if you thought that having all patches + SP2 was worth checking. Good luck then.

I have exactly the same problem...I reinstalled the demo, downloaded msxml4 SP2, deleted/reboted/installed/rebooted... 3 times...Still i just get the same error message as you do...Mayday Mayday Mayday!(good to at last know that I'm not the only one with this problem...)

I kept getting an error 1935 (msxml2 error) when trying to install the demo. I tried uninstalling msxml and reinstalling msxml4 and msxml6 with no luck. Then I tried changing the file name from exe to zip and unzipping the demo files. Then I ran from the unazipped files, WindowsInstaller-KB893803-x86 by itself. (I also ran Directx9 installer as well but don't think thta mattered)I ran setup.exe from within the unzipped files and the install worked perfect after that.Hope that helpsNorm

Just to put you in the picture I did have problems with a MSXML4 error and couldn't start the demo, I've recently solved this by deleting all of the dll files attached to the 'MSXML' and then reinstalled fsx without installing any other version of the MSXML. I find this has done the trick...
