Airways

Featured Replies

Just want to ask the aces team if the AI Traffic will be flying thru the airways now or will file there flight plan before taking off? thanks God Bless, will the airway can also be updated?

I think microsoft's stance is that _most_ of the ATC/AI system hasn't been improved. Airways are out.

AI currently ask for clearance just as the user aircraft in FS2004. That's as far as filing a flight plan will go.The team has stated that AI aircraft will continue to follow great circle courses.Still way too much work to be done before all flights can be on airways.Perhaps they should let us write flight plans with the airways specified for each leg?

However with the new mission system you will be able to program AI to follow any set of waypoints you want.

This just begs the question: Do we have to add the traffic to the missions, or will the other a/c already be there? Methinks it would sound funny to hear "(to other aircraft around) American 162 cleared to Austin as filed, climb and maintain blah, squawk blah... blah blah... (then to your aircraft on a mission) Red Rock 62 Heavy cleared to Dallas via the Leona 6 depature, Leona, then as filed." Knowing that all the other aircraft are just getting "cleared as filed" and you're the only one getting routing. It's all well and good to program a mission that the a/c will fly a route full of waypoints, but what's the point if there's no ATC system to recognize it?Before you ask... Yes, refueling missions, and airshows aside, I know there's some practicality, I'm just trying to make a point.
