***Surprised, can it be ? (Visibility smoothing)***

Featured Replies

I set up 3 layers of different visibility in the demo last night..started with 3miles (0-3000)then 5miles (3001-5000)then unlimited (5001-45000)The transition when ascending was actually pretty smooth, even when descending....not nearly as abrupt as is FS2004Tdragger can you confirm that improvements have been done in this department ?Thanks

Oh yeah!! Now that has improved a lot. I tried that too setting them 3, 5 and 10 miles. The transition is very smooth and clouds above gets gradually invisible too when descending into the lower layers, Great!! Unfortunately there was some shimmering above the water. Otherwise perfect. Yesterday with the grey and rainy theme loaded i also thought there were sudden visibility changes when flying through clouds, this means big, big improvements. While on it, i tried the wintertheme too, but something happened to the snowfall effect. Its like slowmotion?Gerrithttp://members.chello.nl/g.kranenbarg/gwkh...s/bluesmall.gif

unfortunately though when entering an area of low visibility and rain from an area of high visibility there is still an abrupt change ... can you confirm this tdragger?Steve

Guess we'll have to wait for the final version when advancing from one weather station to another to see how this changes. I noticed though that from high altitude there's still the white circle that moves along with the aircraft as long as low visibility conditions apply. Had hopes that would have evolved into something more static like the clouds :(Gerrithttp://members.chello.nl/g.kranenbarg/gwkh...s/bluesmall.gif

Hi,>thank you SO much... this was my most important "wish" above>everything else.I agree. Great improvement! :-)>Now I just hope that weather depiction between stations are>also more gradual...I fear we will have to wait for FS11. FS9 can only visualize one weather condition simultaneously. That also is the reason why we don't have real fronts in FS, because that would require handling with at least two coexisting weather zones. Instead we see these sudden changes in overall weather condition when entering a new weather zone. This could be slightly improved by making the transition somewhat gradual but a real fix for this issue would be making FS capable of handling different coexisting weather zones simultaneously. That is my number one wish for FS11 because from all what I've seen so far this issue is still existing in FSX.Nevertheless, the improvements in visibility and other atmospheric effect are exciting! I'm really looking forward to FSX. :-)Jan
