FSX, wind, and ground handling

Featured Replies

Does anyone know whether FSX fixes the ridiculous ground-handling bug (or lack of GH modeling, or poor GH modeling, or whatever you want to call it)... the problem that makes the virtual pilot have to crab while taxiing in a crosswind? The one that makes you slide off runways if you don't mantain the crab on takeoff and landing?I did a search on this forum, and saw some discussions that got close to this topic, but I've never seen this addressed explicitly.I worry because... well... I know the sim is being expanded to attract more novice flyers, and that's fine, honestly. But there ARE realism sliders, a significant portion of the audience are hardcore flyers (especially those who produce addons that enhance and extend the life of the product)... and the sim (entitled "Flight Simulator"!!) IS advertised as "as real as it gets"... AND this problem is well-documented. Anyone know if it's fixed? This issue has been by far my biggest complaint about the sim for a long time, and for some reason (all the hype about the pretty spotted giraffes, maybe) I have a bad feeling about the real problems such as this having been addressed....I know FSUIPC "fixes" the problem (or, actually, just runs around it), but to be honest, I don't feel like I should HAVE TO purchase an addon to fix something so fundamental to the simulation of flight, a problem that is (once again) pretty well-documented.Anyone know? Thanks!

They have mentioned there are no major changes to ground handling or physics. Anything beyond that we haven't heard. I believe the words used were bug fixes.
