March 12, 20197 yr Hi all, i compile the flight planning for Bluegrass Virtual Airlines. Each year we hold an event called The Great Australian Air Race (GAAR) each February some may know or heard of this. Thiis coming September we are planning a rally flying from England to Australia to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first England to Australia won by pilot Ross Smith flying a Vickers Vimy. Our rally will be following the route or as close as we can using today's airports of the Vimy. During August, flight plans will be made available for perusal, with a short timed test flight in your chosen aircraft and registration, more information on this at a later date. All simulation platforms are included and you may fly any aircraft of choice be it freeware or payware suited to your sim. There are three flight plans available for the rally so you may select the plan that is best suited to your aircraft type. For simplicity we shall call then A, B and C. Flight plan A has been developed for those that choose to fly a slower shorter range aircraft or limited computer time for flight simming. This plan has non compulsory intermediate airport stop overs called sectors , so you may fly the sector and return later to fly the next sector when convenient until you complete the departure / arrival leg that the Vickers Vimy flew. Plan B is the actual departure / arrival direct ports of call as flown by the the Vimy with using today's NDB, VOR/DME as your navigation aids. Plan C is for FMC equipped aircraft using waypoints, and upper level airways for your navigation. Once your test flight and registration is completed you may fly the rally and submit your Pireps any time up until December 20 2019. For those interested in flying this rally more information shall be forthcoming during the coming months or leave a note and I shall do my best to answer. Thanks for reading Rob Robert Finn
