Cloud/Smoke effects

Featured Replies

Hi,i was just wondering if smoke and cloud effects will be improved. In fs9, flying in mountainous or high altitude regions will result in clouds being half buried in the ground or cutting into the mountain. You can clearly see a line when this happens. Its also the same will smoke effects when landing and some aircraft effects.http://www.justflight.com/en/(c3ns5v551m50...Stealth+FighterI'm hoping that this will be solved as it really break the realism factor immediately.

hmmm, that's a good point... I had the same issues in modelling the tomcat wing vapor...must remember to chase that up someday and do some experiments, as it might be to do with the way the FX file has been 'coded' by someone...

I believe its a microsoft thing. Since it happens to both clouds and smoke. It probably because the '3d' clouds are actually made up of 2d images. I don't think that the clouds are that bad looking. Just that they don't behave right. Maybe the ACES can code them to not cut into ground and mountains. Tough one?

the clouds are different matter from an FX file though... The effects file you can select the emitter to cause the particles to interact with hard surfaces as far as I can recall... Clouds are different...One day it'd be nice to see clouds swirl from the effect of an airfoil passing through it... Maybe that might be possible with the new physx render cards that are starting to hit the market...
