Clouds reflected too much?

Recommended Posts

Dear FS Enthusiasts and the ACES team,I love the new water in FSX. It seems to look just right when reflecting an aircraft stationed on the water, but it looks as if the clouds are a bit over reflected.I've never seen clouds reflected that strongly, especially on a wavy sea surface. The picture I'm talking about is this:http://img224.imageshack.us/img224/3682/91zg1.jpgAlso on that shot, the water is an incredibly saturated blue. It looks a bit unnatural, while on this shot:http://img224.imageshack.us/img224/751/106wb.jpgIt has a more natural colour.Anyone have thoughts on this? Maybe it's just my eyes :)

I pretty much agree. While it CAN happen, it is very unusual (at least as far as I've seen) that large bodies of water has a calm enough surface to reflect the sky like a mirror. I find the same annoyance in LOMAC btw.It looks very 'watery' but it's better suited for pools and very small lakes. What I would like to see, however, is the sun reflected in the water. I always find that effect nice to behold as I fly in real life.

Maybe it's just my eyes :) If you look at all the shots released you'll see a wide spectrum of reflectivity. We're still working on the water stuff, although I will say that by the nature of what we do (CGI), the final effect is likely to be a bit "Hollywood." Keep you eye on the screens that'll come out over the next few months, and see what changes...Chers,Jason
