FROZEN AIRMAN FOUND.....

Featured Replies

Nearly 60 yrs ago, a pilot, and three airman left Sacramento Airfield,in an AT-7,a navigation training plane,on Nov. 18 1942.It was reported missing shortly after. Very recently,In a receding glacier in a Serra Nevada mountain,,an airman's body ,in his parachute, was found. The body is incased in a block of ice about 400lbs. It has been removed from MT.Mendel elv. 13,710,to a place for further identification. The preserved body , in a green uniform, thermal undershirt, sweater,a fountain pen,a sewing kit and the rip cord for the unopened parachute is in the ice block. The now elderly sister of the cadet, would like positive identification of her brother. She was 17 then,he 23yrs. This would close the tragedy for her,as she would now, know what happened to him. The names of the four men are known. No need to revel them. The plane of course was wrecked. Much more info is available, including, the on going investigation, and the names of these boys, in the news services.Makes you wonder how many others met fates like that in those unforgiving mountains.Tough years.I know this is a Sim world, but many will go on to the real thing. These aviation tales only continue to add of the mysteries of flight.
