October 9, 200619 yr I have been using the new demo and was monitoring the task manager cpu graph as I go from full screen to window mode and I only see about 55% usage on the graph....this is with a Pent D 940 3.2 GHzdual core. I was wondering if anybody else was seeing the same thing on their rigs...
October 9, 200619 yr Yes, that is about right - 100% on one core and some change and a few windows services on the other = 50-55% of available combined core utilisation.Gary 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11
October 9, 200619 yr Gary that's a huge part of what all the talk is on all these new threads and FSX. FSX, FS9 and most other things primarily use only the one processor and all the ins and outs of that are being debated ad nauseoum all over the forums. That doesn't mean there is no benefit to the dual core, the test scores definitely prove there but it's not the 2X performance that some had come to believe.

One is probably fully loaded and the 2nd only somewhat - so the 55% seem about right.Thats one of the major issues in FSX - it doesn't really benefit much from multiple cpu cores and it may run even faster on a "as fast as possible" single core CPU (e.g. one of the old P4 EE which you could overclock to 3.7 GHz). I've such a beast and I'am really interested in how it will handle FSX, but I have to wait one more week (at least) :)
