FSX runs well on my Dell XPS Gen2

Featured Replies

My Dell XPS Gen 2 laptop with 2 GB Ram, Ge Force 6800 Ultra and a Pentium M2.0 GZ processor is getting better over time. With updated video drivers ((very important not to forget as I did in the beginning)), and serious tweaking within the Nvidia control panel, I have gotten FSX retail version to work pretty good in the native 1920x1200 resolution, 32 bit colors. I am still at a debate as to which runs better, windowed or full screen, but i am able to run with full terrain mesh, full texture resolution, dense scenery and autogen on low (GET THE AUTOGEN PATCH FILES DISCUSSED EARLIER IN THIS FORUM -http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...=354861&page=); and in most cases have gotten 20 steady to sometimes up to 30 locked) Places like Jackson Hole WY run smooth and steady with no blurries, and photolike graphics... I am totally stunned by the overall flight experience here. Near boston where I live, it is less thrilling, yet far better graphics than fs9... yet, honestly , not as smooth, but with the autogen fix in the forum above, has really helped me run 20% faster with autogen... before I had to turn it off!.I am getting into FSX here and hope to return to more forum postings in the future. My real life job of Beechjet captain has me awefully busy for postings and help with fellow simmers but I'd like to try. Anyone else simming on the dell xps gen 2 also?Peter James
