October 17, 200619 yr I decided to try re-flying the Rod Machado flight lessons in FSX and I'm having some trouble with them.I made it through the first two but can't get past the climbs and descents lesson. The first time Rod ended up flying us into a mountain. In the next attempt I had just completed the descent section and handed the controls back to Rod. He then drove the Cessna into a dive overstressing the airframe? Anyone else have similar experiences? Phil
October 17, 200619 yr Author Rod's a funny guy :) Since it's a sim, maybe this is his idea of a joke?Sorry I couldn't resist :)And sorry again, I don't have FSX yet, so I can't help ya.I'm even sorrier I don't have FSX yet.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180 Tom Perry
October 17, 200619 yr I had similar problems in fs9. He would hand me the controls and i would successfully finish the lesson and he would say great job and then the lesson would never end. If i ended the lesson myself then it would never register as me having taken it?? The timing on some of those maneuvers is also off as well and causes him to quit and cancel the lesson. Bugs, bugs, bugs.
October 17, 200619 yr I've flown the first 6 tutorial missions and the experience is much better than the ridgid structure of the old lessons, No offence Rod ;) It would be nice if the old lessons were redone using the missions engine. Maybe there will be 3rd party student and private pilot mission packs. Lots of potential here I think. Phil.
October 17, 200619 yr That's an interesting idea there, Phil.-Jeremy Burchhttp://home.earthlink.net/~dawgfighter/sit...es/swvasig1.gifSWVA4806 http://www.virtualswa.com/home.phpThe Ozark Dogfighter http://forums.avsim.net/images/wedge.gifCurrent system:Pentium 4 Cedar Mill 641 (3.40GHz), Abit AW8D, Gigabyte GeForce 7900GTX (512MB DDR3 PCI-Express x16),Corsair XMS2 Pro 2GB PC2 6400 (DDR2 800), 2 SeaGate Barracuda 250GB hard drives, Sound Blaster X-Fi PlatinumKlipsch ProMedia Ultra 5.1 speakers, NEC 20" CRT, Microsoft SideWinder Force Feedback 2Please note: System specs are for reference in tech forums only and are not to be taken as meaning anything else.Doing so will result in eye-rolling, possible teeth grinding and perhaps mild internal chuckling.Happy Flying!
October 17, 200619 yr I agree. We didn't really do anything with the Rod lessons for FSX--same as FS2004.
October 17, 200619 yr >I agree. We didn't really do anything with the Rod lessons>for FSX--same as FS2004.Just as well we paid new money for old content then!
October 17, 200619 yr The amount of improvements and added features in FSX is staggering-that kind of comment is really unfair.

March 4, 200719 yr I'm a Rod fan back from FS2002 - made the whole experience come alive, and he's a hard master, but a fair one. This actually inspired us to create our own add-on, which, because it doesn't give specific, fixed lessons, is less prone to losing which page of the script it's on.The FS lessons are great, but they can get confused and sometimes poor Rod gets flak for not speaking. Being a busy guy, I doubt if he wrote the ABL programs which run the lessons (I could be wrong!!??) and so it's not his fault!Go Rod!
