Aircraft fuselage shadow issues

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I am currently running P3D V4.5 HF3 and am having issues with the blending of shadows on the fuselage's of aircraft. It's important to note that I was also experiencing this issue in HF2 and have had no improvement since updating to HF3. It is happening on all aircraft, both default and addon, with some being worse than others. The issue occurs with and without using PTA.

I have attempted repairing my P3D Client, deleting P3D.cfg, deleting shaders as per: https://helpdesk.aerosoft.com/portal/kb/articles/rebuild-p3d-shaders, and have performed a clean reinstall of the latest Nvidia drivers. I have set OPAQUE_SHADOW_TEXTURE_SIZE=8192 and TRANSLUCENT_SHADOW_TEXTURE_SIZE=4096 in my P3D.cfg, and that did not provide any improvements. I have also reinstalled my addon aircraft (PMDG NGXu/777/747, Aerosoft A320/A330, QW 787, TFDI 717) and that did not provide any improvements either.

I have external vehicle shadow 'cast' and 'receive' both set to on. While unchecking 'receive' obviously prevents this issue, I don't wish to use shadowless aircraft and would rather try to resolve this problem.

Here are links to screenshots for an example of the issue on the TFDi 717 and Aerosoft A320 Professional:

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
