October 21, 200619 yr Heya all,When flying at night I'm unable to see the blue taxiway lights, even though I CAN see the runway lights, approach lights, and rotating beacon. I also noticed that there are no taxiway signs, the ones that point you in the direction you need to go, like [<- B][C ->]. I'm sure that I remember both the signs and lights were part of FS9, but I can't figure out why they're not showing up for me in FSX. :-(I had gone though some of the online 'tweak' suggestions to improve framerates. I thought that I must have wiped out the needed textures, or turned one of the sliders down too far to be able to see them. So what I did was I uninstalled FSX, deleted the FSX installation directory, as well as the 'FSX files' directory in 'My Documents' then performed a fresh install. After the install I checked and I still don't have taxiway lights or taxiway signs. I even tried turning all of the graphics settings up to 'ultra high' and still no taxiway lights or taxiway signs. :-(I tried spawning at different international airports (Toronto, New York, Boston, etc.) so it's not like I'm trying to find taxiway lighting at some small grass strip that doesn't have any lights.Any help would be greatly appreciated, because as it is, trying to find my way around an airpot at night is a nightmare, for me, and for anyone I'm playing multiplayer with. Thanks in advance,PlaidAvenger
October 21, 200619 yr Heya all,I did a screen capture that might help illustrate the problem I'm having. The pic is an overhead view of Toronto/Pearson International (YYZ).No taxiway lighting or taxiway signshttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/159319.jpgAs you can see the runway lights are working, even the ground lights of the surrounding city - but not the taxiway lights, and there are no taxiway signs. :-(Are other people able to see the taxiway lights and the taxiway signs, or are they just excluded from FSX?Thanks in advance for any help. :-)PlaidAvenger
October 22, 200619 yr You'll get them back when you move one of the scenery sliders to medium I beleive it's scenery complexity. Good luckGary Gary, CIMEL, retired FAA Controller & all around good guy!
October 22, 200619 yr Heya Gary,Thanks for the reply. And bingo! You hit it on the head. I turned my Scenery Complexity up to Normal and now I have taxiway lights and taxiway signs. :-)The only problem now is the framerates, it looks that that one change dropped my frame rates down to TWO frames per second. :-( You'd think a 512 MB video card and 1.5 GB worth of RAM would be able to do a bit better. :-( Oh well...Thanks again Gary! :-)
