American Eagle

Featured Replies

I've painted two variations of American Eagle Short 300s, one operated by Metroflight Airlines and the other operated by Command airways.

You can download both repaints by clicking here.

Metroflight was set up by Metro Airlines in 1974 to operate services from the new Dallas/Ft. Worth Airport and on November 1, 1984 it became the first American Eagle carrier flying Convair 580s. In September 1990, Metroflight merged with Chaparral Airlines which also operated American Eagle services at DFW. On April 1, 1991 its parent Metro Airlines filed for bankruptcy and was acquired by Simmons Airlines on May 28, 1993.

In 1984 Command Airways started an affiliation with American Airlines as part of the American Eagle system and in 1988 AMR Corporation purchased and renamed them AMR Eagle/Command Airways. In 1991 they were merged with Nashville Eagle to form Flagship Airlines and then in 1998 Flagship Airlines was merged with Simmons and Wings West to become American Eagle Airlines.
