October 24, 200619 yr Some Know, maybe most at this site, but I thought a would point out a BIG FSP/Performance hit occurs when you use Anti Aliasing and Filtering, particularly if you don't have a top Video card. 4X or higher anti-aliasing set on my video card (a ATI X600 PCI-E with 256MB), is a HUGE performance hit, therefore, I set the alias and filtering settings to "let the application decide" within the video card driver software and set Anti Aliasing to OFF and filtering to "Bilinear" within the FSX Software. I admit, I get some "shimmering" in views, especially at low altitudes, but IMO, it is acceptable. I plan to get a better video card after DX10/Vista, but the X600 will suffice till then with FSX.
