“Cannot find flightsimulator.exe” FS2020 downloading issues

Featured Replies

Hey guys!
I downloaded FS2020 premium deluxe edition from the Microsoft Store. I know that you have to open it to download the rest of it, but I can’t for some reason. After launching the game, even in administrator mode, I get the message “flightsimulator.exe not found” or something like that. Did I do something incorrectly?

Thanks,

Bill Johnston

Hold on, let me re phrase that to make it more clear. After downloading MFS 2020 Premium Deluxe from the Microsoft Store I opened the application, and when I did, it said "flightsimulator.exe not found" or something like that. Basically, the application can't find the .exe file to execute the installation process, and most importantly the game. Can someone please help me?

These are some issues I have seen while looking around the forums today, which may impact your install. Check if there are any red flags here.

- Windows not being version 2004. Specifically, versions lower or higher (insider builds).

- User account not tied to a Microsoft Account

- Windows Apps (specifically Game Bar) not being updated

- Trying to install the launcher to a separate drive

- Non english characters in windows profile name

- timezone / region different than your actual region

Thanks for the solutions. I am on a Windows Insider build, so I might downgrade to 2004.

As for the windows profile name, I don't really understand what you mean by that. Do you mean my Microsoft Account name? Because that is all in English.

Also, I don't understand what you mean by "User Account not tied to a Microsoft Account". I have a Microsoft account, but I don't fully understand what you mean by "User Account". Could you please clarify this for me?

Thanks very much!

Insider version is probably your issue. There was a potential solution I saw on reddit I think, you might be able to find it. Apparently, it works some of the time.

Sorry, I wasn't to clear. By User Account, I meant the Windows User Account, which may or may not be tied to a Microsoft Account. Some people decide not to login to their computer with their Microsoft Account, and it can sometimes confuse some of the Windows services that MSFS is likely looking for.

Alright, thanks. I will try downgrading, and see if that fixes the issue. Do you have the reddit link that I can see?

Thanks for the help,
