October 26, 200619 yr In the Mission Amsterdam to Heathrow we're instructed to follow specific taxiways on our way to Runway 24.How do we find those taxiways?Cliff
October 26, 200619 yr Assuming you can't select 'turn on progressive taxi' from the ATC chat window (press the '`' key - above the tab key on most US keyboards), you can either follow the directions on the signage at the ends of the taxiways.Or, mimicking real world practice, you can get hold of a copy of the airport's 'Aerodrome Booklet', which is a publication detailing all the required information with regard to operating from that particular airfield. They contain info such as minima, weight restriction on various taxiways, and of course, a map of the airport with the names of all the taxiways. Aerodrome Booklets are updated regularly, in the same way that approach plates and charts are, which means that, like charts, you can usually pick up old copies for very little in the aviation bookshops you find at most airports, or in specialist aviation shops. You could also buy the up to date ones from the publishers I suppose, in the case of the one I have for my home airport (EGCC Manchester UK) the Aerodrome Booklet is published by the European Aeronautical Group, so doing a search on the 'net for that might find a place where you can get hold of them too.just checked in fact, so try: http://www.euronautical.comHappy Landings Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
October 26, 200619 yr Hi Cliff!Just relax and let the co-pilot handle all the communications with Tower and Ground first! As soon as Ground instructs you to move to rwy 24, the usual guiding icon will show up in the upper left corner pointing towards the rwy!You very first part of the mission is to follow the pointer all the way to rwy 24, then be ready for take off! Then .........!!!!! It's a demanding but nice mission! Good luck!Haraldh F.
