August 20, 20205 yr I've seen a few people in this forum complaining about the new simulator and its faults. Some complaints were valid, many not so much. After reading many complaints about how it is impossible to perform a IFR flight (most complaints were about autopilot usefulness), and how you can't alter your IFR plan unless you exit to the main menu and start again, I decided today since I had a bit of spare time to do both these things and see what would happen. Thankfully the whole flight went marvelous. The auto pilot worked flawlessly, I edited my flight plan on the move (used the onboard gps to edit flight plan and then request new clearance from ATC) and had probably the most immersive IFR experience in a sim of my life (I've been playing with flight sims for over 20 years). I got a video of the last part of my flight (including landing) and leave it here for you to see: Notice I keep the autopilot on until very late. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJwDiE-KyyU Could I do this with P3D or Xplane? Absolutely!!! Would it be this immersive? No. Not even with the thousands of pounds in addons I have invested in those sims. Will I delete P3D? Absolutely not! My point is very simple - I was here for the launch of FSX. I was here for the many years after FSX launched continuously reading posts by people who refused to move from FS9 complaining about lack of development for their platform of choice, frequently hearing that FS9 was far superior in all aspects to FSX. I was here for the launch of P3D and once again the same thing happened, many people claimed for many many years that FSX was far superior to P3D, be it for licensing or platform design reasons. I was here for all of that. One way or another the market moves on, and we as a community tend to adapt sooner or later. I'm already adapting to this beautiful modern sim and I am extremely happy with my purchase. I will continue supporting its growth hopping that with our support the (admittedly many) issues continue to get fixed. Oh, and since I know someone will ask: 3800X 32GB ram at 3400 5700xt Edited August 20, 20205 yr by Carlosmmcd
