August 24, 20205 yr Hi everyone, I'd love to hear others experiences using the glass panels for IFR and approach, particularly in the GA aircraft. I've been doing hops around Ireland and the UK in the 172 (I'm honestly staggered by the weather depiction and detail). Everything has worked perfectly on the G1000, even editing the FPL, changing approach etc. Apart from a few glitches with the ATC everything worked well. The TBM, Beech and Caravan all seem to be have very buggy panels on the other hand. Just don't seem to work right at all, I've had weird display issues and they sometimes won't accept data at all. Pretty much gave up. Are these 'known issues' or 'just me'? Apologies if this is answered somewhere, I haven't been on these forums for years but will have a browse later and catch up. I'm a long long long time flight sim guy, moved to XP a good few years ago, I had written this new sim off to be honest when I saw the Microsoft promo videos. I thought no one would be able to run it and it would be FSX launch day all over again. I'm one of the lucky ones with no installation issues and no performance problems. It defaulted to 'high end' and I left it there. It looks phenomenal. Runs like a dream. Here's a few bullet points of feedback from my flights in case others find them useful: - The 172 feels just like or at least very close to the XPlane 172 to me - Turbulence over mountains is there and gives you a hammering - Turbulence in cumulus doesn't seem to be there - Sounds in flight are visceral and highly immersive, gives you good solid feedback - The Beech wants to fly nose up about 3-4 degrees. Normal? - I can't do a TBM startup from dark without an oil pressure warning - anyone else? - Flying a midnight approach into Birmingham EGBB last night with 14kts wind and the low clouds lit by the city lights, was actually breathtaking. Looked like a youtube cockpit video. Really the best moment I've had in a flight sim in years. Happy flying everyone! I'm sure there is a ton of discussion and I'm sure others are having issues. For me this is a watershed moment for flight sims, the value for money is unquestionable and the environment and weather are staggering.

Pretty much gave up Their G1000 or G3000 are not fully simulated, but what is there, works fine for me, BUT I think it is safer to create the flight plan on the world map, instead of entering it in the cockpit, since the latter sometimes produced weird behaviors for me. But if entered on the world map, the other G1000/G3000 functions fine. Esp. the G3000 thanks to its two additional touchscreen panels. Mario Donick .:. vFlyteAir
August 24, 20205 yr Just a confirmation about the C172 glass: yesterday I was flying between the Austrian alps and a small airport south of Vienna. VFR flight planned on Little Navmap, nothing loaded up into the G1000. As I was progressing weather get worst and worst so I figured I'd better divert to a close IFR equipped airport, LOWW. With just a little bit of trial and error I managed to create a FP "on the fly", choose an approach and the AP safely drove me through the arrival with me managing the vertical profile and then smoothly down to the GS.
