Just stops randomly for up to a minute . Sound keeps going but video is paused..could it be from using network live updating of scenery or aircraft?

Yep, it's downloading scenery data and is rendering it.  If it's really bad/annoying/long pause, you can mess around with the cache settings, but judging by the various threads on the topic, its functionality doesn't seem super clear yet.
