August 26, 20205 yr My install of FS was rock-solid (other than the known bugs). I had no stutters, etc. I then remembered I own FaceTrackNoIR and decided to give it a shot with FS. I reinstalled it and ran FS. I suddenly had a myriad of issues. My Alpha yoke vanished from Controls. I also suddenly had a TrackIR entry there even though I didn't think FaceTrackNoIR installed anything (I actually couldn't get it to operate my webcam so I gave up on it). I noticed flying in FS was extremely sluggish. Terrain loaded slowly. The King Air panels would update slowly (planes would ZIP like rockets from point A to point B to catch up when I'd return to the cockpit view). The props spun in a jerky fashion and I had stutters. The interesting thing is that I also noticed something strange while troubleshooting the Alpha yoke issue. I noticed that the Game Controllers applet from Windows 10 (Devices and Printers, right click a stick or peripheral and choose "Game controller settings") was extremely slow to load and refresh. This is my go-to testing applet so I now how it normally loads and it's usually snappy and instant. Now it took 10-20 seconds to load and it would drag during a device refresh whenever I left one device to go back to the applet home screen. So, after some poking I decided to do a System Restore to the 24th. Presto. All issues GONE. Granted, this doesn't solve others problems, but I did notice in system restore that it noted between the 24th and now a few Microsoft runtime DLLs had been installed and whatever they did clearly did a number on my registry. Some apps that install these might be the culprit, but simply uninstalling those runtimes didn't fix the issue for me.
