August 28, 20205 yr Hi, Not sure if I am doing this correctly but every time I took the aircraft to the air and engage A/P in GPS/FMS mode (with CDI properly switched to GPS or FMS), AND the flight plan properly activated (path in red/magenta color), the A/P always points the aircraft to almost 360/North in NAV mode. Allow me to say that as a 15 year simmer (mostly airliners like PMDG and FSLabs stuff) with FSX and P3D4, so far FS2020 has been a major disappointment to me - controls are weird, views are counterintuitive and aerodynamics and systems - eh dont get me started.
August 28, 20205 yr So from one newbie here on AVSIM to another, my second post to your first post, here is my take. As far as the autopilot, there seems to be much agreement that MFS is having some initial issues with the autopilot systems. I am finding some things that aren't expected also, so my initial solution is not to use it right now. I have been flight simming for several years myself, and I am finding MFS to be incredibly good, fun, and addicting. But I am focusing on those areas that it does very well such as using the graphics for VFR flight and flying around in the C152 with NO AUTOPILOT and I am loving it. I also find the aerodynamics to be outstanding. Not a pilot but have flown in the front seat of small aircraft and I see no issues there. Finally, as far as views being "counterintuitive", may I suggest that what you are trying to say is that you are used to something a certain way based on the other sims you use, and this one doesn't work that way you are used to. That's correct, it works the way MSFS works, and if one were to start simming with MSFS, that's what they would feel is intuitive, and all the others would feel "counterintuitive". It's a great sim. Give it some time. You might find it grow on you!
